July 2000 Meeting

The meeting was called to order by Mike Brem on July 15th.  John Burns read the summary notes from the June 3rd meeting which were accepted without corrections.  Dave Koran reviewed our financial status, which is essentially unchanged, and reviewed the problems encountered in transferring and updating the membership list.  Joe Bulterman reported that the AKA membership database now hold approximately 940 records of which about 870 are individual members.

July Discussions (in no particular order)
.  Mike Brem highlighted the BAKA box to be sent after the meeting.  John Burns reminded everyone that this is not an exchange box.  Fish sent will be sold at auction during BAKA's next meeting and submitters will receive 75% of the sale price.

.  John Burns announced that the web site now has an application form for membership (suggested by a web site visitor).  He also reviewed upcoming meetings and events of interest--both killie and non-killie.

.  Joe Bulterman repeated his recommendation that the AKA seek a marketing person to help rebuild the membership totals.  Also suggested was the splitting of the publicity and marketing functions.

.  Dave Koran announced a plethora of candidates for the 3 open AKA BOT seats.  Names will be officially published in the BNL.

.  Bill Pabst was confirmed as the host for the September meeting.

.  Possible alternate meeting places were discussed, e.g. a fish farm, rather than only meeting at members homes.  No decision was reached.

.  Monty Lehmann recapped ther beginning of the Kathetys Breeding Circle.  Many individuals have joined and a significant number of collection locations are already represented.

.  The club decided to keep its membership in the Sweedish Association.  Joe Bulterman is the club contact and will receive the newsletter.

.  Dave Koran summarized the status of exchange memberships with the DKG.

.  John Burns and Dave Koran summarized several different fry catching techniques used in Europe.

.  Dave Snell provided auctioneering services for an unusually large monthyl auction.

.  Last, but not least, Francine Bethea joined us as a new member.
