September 2000 Meeting

The meeting was called to order by Mike Brem on September 16th.  John Burns read the summary notes from the August 19th meeting which were accepted..  He then presented the financial standing for Dave Koran, who was not present, and referred members to the website for a networth summary for the club.  Joe Bulterman reported on the AKA membership which was essentially unchanged at 917 from last month (this includes clubs and other non-individual memberships).  Joe also passed around a copy of the report he provides to the BOT on a monthly basis.

September Discussions (Jumbled order)
.  John Burns provided a copy of the e-mail NANFA sends to members whose membership is about to expire.
.  Monty Lehmann announced he had a slide show that includes his own and AKA phtoographs and that he was willing to present it at the October meeting.  His offer was unanimously accepted.
.  Monty Lehmann will provide information on the Kathetys Breeding Circle and Kathetys in general for the website.  This will be accessed from a "Kathetys" button on the main menu.
.  Larry Tagrin presented an article from the "Aquaculture Magazine," Annual Product Issue, about cycops-eez.  Larry will provide a bullet-point summary for the website.
.  Obtaining a box of European fish for the October joint meeting with the KKG was discussed.  Joe Bulterman said he was looking into a couple of sources.  The fish would come from a larger shipment, thus reducing shipping costs to us and relieving us of importation problems.  The members authorized up to $150 for this effort with the expectation that the KKG would match dollar-for-dollar and that the auction proceeds would be evenly divided between the two clubs regardless of who actually purchased the fish.
.  John Burns will check with Ken Normandin to see if he will be providing his traditional box of fish for the joint meeting in October.
.  Joe Bulterman announced he will relinquish the Chairmanship of the AKA Membership Committee in January 2001 and asked those present to consider taking it over so the activity remains with the CAKC.
.  John Burns presented a brief sumnmary of the "Killie Revue 2000 Show."
.  Joe Bulterman presented information on "0" hatch brine shrimp eggs for decapsulatzation as a food source.  Current cost is $35/case (12 cans).
.  Monty Lehmann presented his experience with coconut-fiber "bricks" as a spawning medium and passed a brick around for members to examine.
.  Bill Friedman volunteered to host the November meeting provided it is held on November 11th.  His offer was gratefully accepted.
.  After adjournment, Larry Tagrin provided his auctioneering services.
.  Returning member, the seldom seen and oft missed Michael Cardaci.
